Cook It: Bud Light Pizza Crust
This alternative pizza crust recipe uses an American classic light lager to give your next pizza night an extra-special twist.
There are few certain truths in this ever-changing world. One bedrock truism however, is that great pizza crust is both yeasty and chewy. Usually that comes from yeast itself in the dough. However, you can achieve that same effect with an added flavor dimension by substituting light beer for the yeast.
It’s best to use a great-tasting light lager like Bud Light. Trust us, we’ve made this mistake. A darker, stouter beer can result in a bitter crust. Those beers are awesome for drinking and using in other recipes, but stay light for crust.
1 Can of Bud Light
3 1/4 Cups of Flour
1/2 Teaspoon of Kosher Salt
1 Tablespoon of Baking Powder
3 Tablespoons of Olive Oil
Cheese, Spices and Toppings of Your Choice
This will make one deep dish crust. Divide it if you want something thinner.
Combine 3 cups of your flour, your kosher salt and baking powder in a mixing bowl. Stir well.
Add the can of Bud Light. Mix well. You will have a very sticky ball of dough when you’re done.
Preheat your oven to 475.
Sprinkle your (clean) countertop in the remaining flour and coat the ball of dough in it to eliminate the stickiness. Knead that ball of dough for at least 60 seconds.
Grease your cookie sheet or pizza pan.
Using a rolling pin, roll your dough out flat. Once you’ve placed it in the pan, brush it with olive oil.
Top your pizza crust your way. Pick what you like!
Bake for 12-15 minutes. Watch for that awesome golden color on top.
CUT AND SERVE WITH COLD BUD LIGHT!
