Make It: The Vesper
1 Ounce of Lillet Blanc
1 Ounce of Gin
1 Ounce of Vodka
Pour all of your ingredients into a mixing glass or shaker. Crack your ice into the mixture. Stir for 20 to 25 seconds. Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with a lemon peel. Serve with the wry smile of a superspy.
This one can literally be traced back to James Bond and series creator Ian Fleming. In Chapter 7 of his novel “Casino Royale,” the ever-suave Bond specifically asks for the drink, giving the startled and pleased bartender the recipe as he does. He doesn’t even yet have a name for it. That comes later in the story, when he meets the beautiful Vesper Lynd and names the cocktail after her. The drink is an awesome way to bring some sophistication into your night. To Bond and his invention!
Big ups to Weather Up for their help on this!
