November 14 -- 6 Ways to Unwind on Loosen Up, Lighten Up Day with Swizl

There’s no question, life can be a grind at times. So often, we all feel like we have to push every minute just to get by. Always moving, always driving forward. It can be a somewhat bitter pill. Swizl has an antidote for those work-a-day blues.

Relax. Take a deep breath and shake out those shoulders. It’s Loosen Up, Lighten Up Day and you should be celebrating with us.

We thought you might need a little inspiration, so here are a few quotes to help you shrug off the yoke of stress.

STEP 01: MEDITATE

All you need is 5 minutes. The National Library of Medicine found that even short periods of silent meditation can relieve stress and depression. Sit in your favorite chair in a quiet place. Close your eyes and listen to your breathing. Concentrate on it. No matter how much you want to, don’t open your eyes for 5 minutes. Just focus on the steady in and out of your breathing and let the day’s care fall away.

STEP 02: STRETCH

Start with a shoulder roll. Relax them and roll forward, then up, back and return to the starting position. Do five of those and then reverse the direction for five. Reach back and pat your own upper back. Feel the stretch in your arm. Stand and touch the tip of your right toe to the floor. Gently roll your ankle a full revolution both ways. Repeat the left foot.  Bend at the waist and touch your toes. Hang there for a moment. Stand back up and take a deep breath.

STEP 03: MASSAGE

This one’s simple. Just kick off your kicks, place a golf ball on the floor and run your bare feet back and forth over it. It’s an awesome way to give yourself a solo foot massage and it’s cheap to boot.

STEP 04: SWIZL -- THE ORANGE OASIS

INGREDIENTS

4 Ounces of Ice-Cold Orange Juice

1 1/2 Ounces of Gin

1/2 Ounce of Cherry Liqueur

1 Orange Slice

Regular Ice

------

PROCESS

Pour the orange juice, gin and cherry liqueur into a large mixing glass. Add ice to fill the glass. Garnish with the orange slice and serve with the toast below.
