Concocted in the late 19th century, the Old Fashioned is a true staple. We’re talking about an International Bartenders Association cocktail, selected for use in competitions worldwide. Though its roots may go back a bit further, it first went by the name we now know it by in the 1880s in Louisville, Kentucky at the Pendennis Gentlemen’s Club. Louisville has since made the Old Fashioned the city’s official cocktail and during the first two weeks of June, celebrates “Old Fashioned Fortnight” in the drink’s honor. This is definitely one to know, folks.
