Make It: The Strawbizl Caipiroska
1 Big Bunch of Fresh Mint Leaves
5 Fresh Strawberries, Hulled and Quartered
1/2 Lime, Cut Into 4 Wedges
1 Tablespoon of Sugar
4 Ounces of Vodka
Cracked Ice (Place a cube in your palm and use the back of a spoon to crack it)
In a cocktail shaker, muddle the lime, four of the strawberries and the sugar. Stop when the mixture is nearly pureed. Measure and add the vodka. Add enough ice to fill your serving glass. Shake for 15 seconds and pour into your cocktail glass. No straining with this one. Garnish with the remaining strawberry and serve.
The Strawbizl Caipiroska is an international love story marrying two very different and very beautiful rural traditions.
Our Caipiroska is based on the national cocktail of Brazil, the caipirinha. Caipira, the root word of that cocktail’s name in Brazilian Portuguese, refers to someone from the countryside. We like to think of that original cocktail as the sun-kissed, chestnut-haired country girl of our love story.
Enter the clear-eyed, muscular Russian villager to sweep her off her feet. The caipiroska version of that base cocktail substitutes vodka for the original cane sugar liquor cachaca. We’ve also added the classic pastoral Russian tastes of natural wild strawberry and mint to the mix, bringing a fresh flavor and beautiful pop of color.
It’s a match made in heaven and with a cocktail like this, we will all live happily ever after.
